The original hasn't been seen. It is unusually that she would have been referred to by her maiden name and not Ingraham, but evidence supports that she was the widow of Timothy Ingraham when she married Thomas. Margaret of Berkley was appointed administrator of Thomas' estate on 31 January 1754. An inventory was taken in that month. (Bristol Co. Probate Index).(1)

His will dated 23 May 1724 mentioned his wife, Christian, and her signature appears on a deed dated 24 June 1726 (Taunton Deeds 17-88), but the surname was missing. N.E.H.G.R., Vol. 34, p. 136 lists among the baptisms at the Church of Christ, Bristol, on 22 July 1705, "Margaret, dau. of Christian Maxfield, widow of Samuel Maxfield, deceased." Margaret Maxfield was in Freetown on 12 June 1719 when her marriage to Thomas Hathaway (son of John Hathaway, Jr.) was recorded .
