DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
Maxwell-12131 and Maxwell-10 appear to represent the same person because: Same name and year of birth. Samuel Maxwell and Martha Patton are commonly and incorrectly mentioned at the parents of Bluford Maxwell.
Samuel Maxwell is commonly put as Bluford's father in majority of the family trees out there. But the Y-DNA haplogroup for Bluford's children (see 23andme matches) and Samuel's children (see FT's Maxwell DNA group) don't match. So, Samuel is not the biological father. His is likely Bluford's uncle. Likely the real parents of Bluford are Henry Hance and Mary Maxwell. If you happen to be a descendent the true parentage is fairly obvious in Ancestry.com with the Thrulines feature.
