John lived to be 102, died in Port Mouton 1858. David Maxwell was his father whom was a loyalist, from New York City, came to NYC from Scotland much earlier along with John Maxwell. David arrived first to Shelbourne, pleaded along with most to find another place and was granted land in Port Joli, now southern part of Port Mouton. David Maxwell must have had an important role as a Loyalist, he was attached to the first original list of Loyalist to go to Shelbourne, that means he either knew the right people or was high in rank if he actually fought, can't find him as a soldier. He was a Tailor by trade and that itself was important to the British military.
