Denis was born in 1903 in Egham, Surrey, England (1). When he was 2, he, his sister, and his parents emigrated to the United States. They arrived on 24 April 1905 (2) in the port of Philadelphia on the ship Merion. Initially, they lived in New Jersey, but after his father found work in Hingham, Massachusetts, they moved there (3). Howard graduated from Hingham High School and followed his parents to Ohio.
He studied singing at the Toledo Conservatory of Music, but he took a job as a reporter for Dunn and Bradstreet to support himself. He lived with his parents (4) until he married Julia Hart on 21 April 1934 (5). In 1940, they were living in Perrysburg, Ohio, and he was still working for Dunn and Bradstreet (6).
In 1954, Howard got a job in Mansfield, Ohio, and they moved to Black estate, aka Raemelton Farm. Howard worked there until his retirement, but he also enjoyed singing with the Choral Society and various choirs. He passed away on 10 Aug 1993 (7) and is buried at Mansfield Cemetery (8).
