Mary was probably born in Devonshire, England around 1610, assuming an age at marriage of 21 years.
A document from Hartland Parish in northern Devonshire records the marriage of "Peter Buscotte" and Mary May on May 20, 1631.[1] This combination of correct forenames, good timing with arrival in America in the late 1630s, and the rarity of the Busecott surname suggest that this may be the marriage of the couple who later arrived in Massachusetts and finally settled in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Mary made her mark in Warwick, Rhode Island on October 6, 1661 as witness on a sale of land from Peter Busecot to Samuel Stafford[2].
