Catherine Mayfield 1807-1878, the widow of Peter Randolph Cabaniss 1801-1834, never legally married John Coleman Cabaniss 1805-1858. She was his common law wife. They had three ( 3 ) sons together. Erasmus Darius Cabaniss 1838-1864, Marion Thomas Cabaniss 1841-1863, and Alexander Coleman Cabaniss 1844-1917.

Descendants that have DNA tested have told me it wasn't John Coleman Cabaniss that Catherine had relationship with, it WAS a Cabaniss. I'll just leave this here until more info is available. John Coleman Cabaniss died in California and his probate indicated that he had no survivors.
