Rebecca Maynard was born in the southeastern area of Kentucky. Since the boundaries seemed to change every ten years or so, she could have been born in Floyd, Lawrence, Johnson or Pike county. She was born January 2, 1843 to Benjamin Williamson Maynard and Elizabeth Deskins, both from the area.
She later married Henderson Scott, and together had a number of children.
She was living with her parents and siblings in the 1850 and 1860 censuses , and with her husband and children in the 1870 to 1910 censuses .
She died on July 29, 1915 at the age of 72 in Pike County, Kentucky. Rebecca Maynard Scott was buried in the Scott Cemetery, Belfry, Pike, Kentucky.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rebecca by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
