Jabez Maynard was born at Sudbury, Massachusetts on 5 Mar 1770, the son of John Maynard and Susanna (Walcott) Maynard.[1]
Jabez Maynard died of consumption at Bolton, Massachusetts, on 18 Apr 1849, with his age recorded as 79 years, 1 month, and 13 days.[2]
Jabez Maynard married Elizabeth Clough Bent at Stow, Massachusetts, on 29 May 1793. The marriage of Jabez Maynard and Elizabeth Clough Bent on 29 May 1793, at Stow, was recorded at Stow, Sudbury, and Bolton. The Stow record calls him “Jabez of Bolton” and gives her name as "Bettey Clark Bent of Sudbury," but the published record also includes a reference to the Middlesex County copy, which gives the date as 21 May 1793 and that calls her "Betty Clough Bent of Sudbury."[3] The Sudbury record calls him “Jabes of Bolton” and gives her name as just “Betty Clark”[4]; the Bolton record gives her name as “Betty Clark [Clough?] Bent.”[5] See the Research Note on Elizabeth's profile for a discussion of her identification.
