Johne Margaret, Elizabeth, Jhane & Letyce. Humfrey was the son of John Clark and Rabege / Rebecca daughter of John Godfrey of Aldington Margaret was the daughter of John and Lettice Mayne / Mayney of Biddenden." [1]

"...Humphry Clarke, son of John Clarke, of Woodchurch, was afterwards of King's-North, in Kent (a,); and, by Margaret, his wife, daughter of John Maney, of Biddenden, in Kent, Esq; had. (a) £ Coll.TJw. Jekyll, Arm, had issue four daughters that were married, viz. Margaret, to William Brockman, of Newington: Elizabeth, to Richard Tucker, of Aldington: Joan, first married to Reginald Knight, secondly, to Thomas Graunt, and thirdly, to Sir Walter Afcough, Knt. and Lettice, first married to Martyn Culpeper, M. D. and secondly, to Robert Purflow: and two sons; i. Humphry Clarke, of Buckford, in Great-Chart, who sold the Woodchurch estate: 2. Walter Clarke, of Ratcliffe, in com. Bucks, Esq; who married Elizabeth, daughter of Simon Edolph, of St. Radigans, in Kent, E(q; and had issue, four sons; Simon, Martin, who died S. P. John, who married Mary, daughter of Randall, of Dunkirk, and Humphry, who married Cicely, daughter of Nicholk: and a daughter, Anne, the wife of Abel Barnard." [5]

Simon Clarke,Esq; the eldest son, married i.Margaret,daughter and coheir of John Alderford, of Abbots-Salford, inco. War.Esq; (by Elizabeth, daughter of Peter Dormer, of Newbottel, Eli,) which induced him to purchase, in that county, several manors, and a good estate, particularly the manor of Salford-Priors (a)y where he resided, and was created a baronet, 1617. He was a great encourager of Sir Wm. Dugdale, in his writing the Antiquities of Warwickshire; and on the importunity of this Sir Simon, and his lady, he came first to London (i), accompanying them in their journey, in Easter-term, 1638, who afterwards introduced him to Sir Henry Spelman. This Sir Simon, paid 8001. on account of his loyalty, temp. Car. I. to the sequestrators, for his estate: He had issue, by the said Margaret, five sons; Sir John, Walter, Thomas, Peter, a captain in the Low-countries, and Woodchurch, (who married the daughter of Thomas D'Abitot, of Ridmarfley-'Abitot, in com. Wig. and left issue, Simon,) also a daughter, Elizabeth. His second lady was Dorothy, daughter of Thomas Hobson, of Cambridge, Gent, relict of William Hay, Gent, by whom he had no issue.'" [6]

Is it possible that we have conflated two or more historical persons? We have Margaret born 1520, married 1522 (age 2), and bearing Elizabeth 1535 (age 15). I have read through the biographies and have no clarifying suggestion. Does anyone else?

Mayne-155 and Maney-30 are not ready to be merged because: Maney looks to be the oldest LNAB source ("Baronetage, p. 142..." added to profile), so you may need to reverse these and keep Maney. [1]
