Biography
Jane Mayne was born in the Goulburn area of New South Wales between 1842 and 1844. It is likely she was born on the property known as Brisbane Grove owned by the Thorn family. Until recently Jane's birth location was a mystery as her death certificate stated she was born in Brisbane, Queensland. It is unlikely she was born there as Queensland did not exist in this time frame and the Moreton Bay settlement was part of New South Wales.
