Clarence was Chickasaw.

Clarence was born 13 Jan 1880 in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, the son of David Mays and Susan Mitchell. Clarence passed away in 1958 at Garvin, Oklahoma. He is buried at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Garvin County, Oklahoma.[2]
