Biography

Medy was born in 1798. His father was Abney Mathew Mays (1758-1804)

He was married to first to Lucinda Scurry with whom he had nine children including a son James Mays in 1826. The family resided in Edgefield, Abbeville, and Saluda, SC.

After Lucinda's death, he married Nancy Calhoun with whom he had five more children.

Medy passed away in 1875 while living in Anderson County, South Carolina.

On June 24, 1842 Medy Mays sheweth that his father Mathew Mays decd. left a wid., Lucretia Mays, and 13 living chn. Sett. made Feb. 7, 1845. Present: Medy, Henry, Larkin, Lucretia Mays wid. Thos. Rosamond and wife, Sarah. Elihu Campbell who married Emeline, she died leaving no chn. Stephen Whitty and wife Elizabeth. Elias T. Graham and wife Caroline. Enoch Carter and wife Nancy. Daniel, Abner, Jane, Tabitha, Lucretia Mays were minors.^[1]
