Biography

Joseph E ("Manny)") Mays was born in Parke County, Indiana, 1860, son of Allen Mays and Sarah Funkhouser, grew up in Allen County, Kansas, where he married Mary J. Cadmus, July 31, 1883. They began married life in Pratt County, Kansas, where he farmed in Richland Township for about twenty years. By 1910 he and his family were living in Sedgwick County, Kansas and by 1925 he and Mary were living in Liberal, Seward County, Kansas. Manny passed away at the home of his son, Walter, in Elk County, Kansas in 1943.
