Biography
Giuseppe Mazzini was born in 1805. Mazzini was an Italian patriot, politician, philosopher and journalist. Leading exponent of the Italian Risorgimento, his ideas and his political action contributed decisively to the birth of the Italian unitary state; the sentences suffered in various courts of Italy forced him to flee until his death. Mazzinian theories were of great importance in the definition of modern European movements for the affirmation of democracy through the republican form of the state. He passed away in 1872.
