Thomas McAdoo, a farmer, age 40, together with his wife Esther McAdoo a spinster (of flax) age 30, and sons Joseph age 7; John age 4; and James age 3: arrived in New York from Londonderry aboard the vessel Oceanus on 1 June 1838.

As part of a personal project, the five McAdoo's in this family are each tagged "Landed Alpha" to denote their status as a documented first-arrival in North America from Ulster/Northern Ireland.
