Biography

Lacey was the daughter and youngest child of Andrew McAllister and Margaret Young McAllister. Lacey married into another prominent Cumberland Valley family, the Ralston Family, when David Ralston became her husband.

"David Ralston was born at Big Spring, near Newville, this county, September 26, 1784; married Miss Lacey McAllister; he and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church; they had four children: James McAllister, born near Newville, this county, January 14, 1823; David, Andrew, Mary E., wife of David Line. The father of these children died March 8, 1849, and the mother in 1863 in he seventy-third year."

After her husband's death in 1849, Lacey was living with her son, James McAllister Ralston, and other family members, on a farm adjacent to the farm where she grew up, where he siblings were living.

In the 1850s, Lacey lost three of her siblings, brother James, sister Eleanor, and brother Archibald. In 1860, she, along with her son James, and other family members, were living on the farm in which Lacey grew up. After the death of her three siblings, Lacey had purchased the home farm and resided there with her immediate family.

Her death came three years later, in 1863, when she died at the age of 72.
