Biography

Ewin McBee was a lifelong resident of Arkansas.

Ewin "Ewing" "Ervin" McBee was born on October 12, 1898, in Marion, Arkansas. His father, William, was 24, and his mother, Elzada, was 25. In the 1900 census, Erwin (age 1) was living with his parents in Logan, Baxter, Arkansas.^[1] In the 1910 census, Wm (Please note the name Wm is wrong) (Ewin, age 11), was a Farm Laborer living with his parents and siblings in White River, Marion, Arkansas, United States. He attended school and is listed as being able to read and write.^[2] Ewing married Della Pangle on 17 Apr 1918 in Marion County, Arkansas.^[3] They had eight children in 16 years. In the 1920 census, Evin (age 21), Farmer, was the married head of household in White River, Marion, Arkansas.^[4] In 1930, the couple lived in White River, Marion, Arkansas, and had four children at home - Eugenia, Neva, Ward, and Wayne.^[5] He died on March 23, 1938, in his hometown at 39. Burial was in the Flippin Cemetery in Flippin, Marion County, Arkansas^[6]

Ewin had a medium physical build; his height was medium. His hair color was brown, and his eye color was brown.

Cause of Death

• It looks like he was very sick as per the newspaper articles. In one of those articles it states he had been to the sanatorium in Boonville, Arkansas, which was a Tuberculosis Sanatorium.

Researchers Notes

• His first name has many spelling variations. I had him as Ewing, a family name, but his grandchild reached out to me and told me it is Ewin, which also matches his headstone. I have listed all the different spellings to help aid other researchers. He is my great-grandfather's brother. (AWH 10-11-2023)
