Joined 3rd Missouri Cavalry US 1 Oct 1861at St Louis [4]with his brother George McCain. Adam died in 1864 on active duty. His brother returned to Piatt County Illinois and married his widow Martha and had two daughters by her. Nothing is known of his Adam's two children by Martha. She allegedly abandoned her four children and moved to Missouri with another man.
