Biography

David was born an agricultural labourer. He had been working in Maybole when he married Catherine Gibson in 1848.^[1] The couple made their home in Dunure where David then turned his hand to fishing.^[2] Catherine died in 1858 and David is next in Loans as a ploughman having married Ann Kelly in 1860.^[3]David also worked in the pits of Kilmaurs and as a forester in Onthank, Kilmarnock. David passed away in 1899 from senile decay.^[4]
