John was born in Straiton in 1814.[1] He is the son of David McCall and Margaret Kerr. A John McCall married Jane Bryan in 1832, Maybole. [2] However, his death certificate in Irvine, Ayrshire in 1895 names his father as John McCall and mother unknown. So this needs to be investigated further.
