Biography

Born in Sydney, NSW, Australia, To Clark McCallum and Jean Mackenzie. I grew up on the South Side of Sydney in Kogarah Bay. Going to school and high school in the area. Couldn't decide what to study so went on to work as a Temp - filling in for people who were away due to pregnancy, holidays, illness or just when a company had the need for a project officer. Loved it, learnt so many different programs and systems. Getting permanent jobs such as Spreadsheet specialist with Telecoms companies.

Then along with my mother and sister moved to Port Macquarie (about 4hrs north of Sydney), after my grandparents (Douglas Mackenzie and Joyce Goode retired there around 1998.
I went on to study Human Health Science while temping in the area, such as for the Mid North Coast TAFE.
In 2002 I met my husband, Ken Julian, through an internet dating site - yes they can work sometimes.
We married in 2003 on an island nearby, with close family and friends. and went on to have 4 kiddos. over the next 6 years. (3 boys and a daughter).

Throughout the years Dancing Sports have been very important to me.

-Ballet 2-14, then 34-42.
-Gymnastics 4-15
-Ballroom Dancing 10-24
-Ice Skating 12-20
-Irish Dancing 24-35
-Irish Dancing Teacher 28-40.

I've created a small business sewing handbags, wallets, totes, backpacks and the like. It is a therapy for my mental health, I love to sew - not very good at clothes but I can sew bags!.

I have now caught the jigsaw ancestry bug, thanks to my sister-in-law.

I have been following my fathers tree though Scotland and Ireland and backwards and forwards between the two countries. Why did they do this?
Following my mums side through a couple of convicts and some free settlers back through many parts of England.
I love learning about my ancestors lives, their jobs, and morbidly I am fascinated by causes of death.
To me all of this is like a giant jigsaw that always has another piece.

When I get stuck I just hassle friends until one of them lets me do their family tree too.

I find the Convict and Early Australian Settlers absolutely fascinating. I have both in my family tree. It was great to find out the family rumour of a Solider coming to Australia as a Free Settler with his family. Turn out it is true and I'm lucky enough to be descendant of the large family IKIN. They are well documented with even a book on them,by Graham Thom. And I'm an Ikin down through my Great Grandmother Emmeline Ikin and along to Obadiah Ikin my 6x Great Grandfather.

As of 2022 I have been working with FreeReg to transcribe Parish Registers. I figure that I have found help and BDM on this site, so if I can add more to help others it is a great thing. And I love it, fascinating stories - such as an occupation of - Vermin-Killer - haha.

I tend to come and go with my Genealogy time due to having the 4 kiddos, sewing and family commitments. So I'm a bit inconsistent. But love it when I get back into it.

Hi Elayine,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Hi Elayine,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Kind Regards

Margaret Haining Membership Coordinator

Hi Elayine, thanks for your feedback on https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Puckeridge-69.

I came to work on that family through my work as a Data Doctor, then stumbled across the image online, and then I just got carried away and created profiles for as many people as I could.

Cheers

Hi!

I'm Eowyn, a WikiTree Mentor and Team Member. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. Try to add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country, for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, try to source each profile as you go.

We also have a naming standard here.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Do you have any questions I can help with?
