Digital Afterlife

It may seem morbid, but in the event of my untimely demise I want to be sure that none of my hard work on WikiTree ends up having to be deleted. While I fully intend to be around to manage all my profiles for the next 40 years or so, in the event of my sudden death I hereby give permission for all of my private profiles to be transferred to any active WikiTreers, whether or not they are currently on the trusted lists!

Hi Stephen!

I see that you just did some work on pre-1700 profiles and that you have had your pre-1700 badge for quite some time.

The requirements for sources, especially for early profiles have been altered since you got your badge. There is now a quiz to take before having the badge; you can check out.

You can also read the help for pre-1700 profiles; in order to understand why a source like "" or "Unsourced family tree" is not a valid source.

Hi Stephen,I have managed to push your Fennell line back a bit, and probably have more in my card-index that might prove useful. My own Fennell line goes back, via Derbyshire, and Gloucestershire to Warwickshire in the late 17th C., where, here, they seem to have flourished. One Fennell became Lord Mayor of Coventry.

Hi Stephen, I manually added you to the trusted list of most (those that I could) of the Cape of Good Hope profiles that you have requested. As you have seen, many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. Thanks for asking to be on the trusted list instead of creating duplicates to merge in order to do so! :-) You will notice though that the two main South African projects have different editing protocols. In order to ascertain the validity of data and sources, we directly link facts (avoiding narration where possible) via inline [named] references to sources, including our names and the dates of the editing. As for Minnaar-236 - see the box with instructions in red for the protocol. The COGH (1652-1806) similarly has different rules for the collation of data, due to the density of the gene pool and the massively merged ancetral profiles.

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides useful sources, there help pages that are handy.

Hey Stephen,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards .

If you need to describe an event, heirloom or a location relevant to your research, try Free Space Profiles .

If you run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these unfortunate situations.

A project of note is the Global Family Reunion check it out at Global Family Reunion.

Questions? Ask via my profile page. Mags
