Thank you, for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree.
Our Honor Code, G2G Forum message forum, help pages, search
features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the
upper right corner of most pages. VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources,
dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your
branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date,
please estimate using before or after. Our mission is to build a global tree
with just one profile per person, so please try very hard not to add any
duplicates to our shared tree. Hope you enjoy WikiTree! Donna
Hi Tristan, I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Our process here is a little different than what you might find on other sites because of our goal of growing one worldwide tree with a single profile for each individual. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our Before You Import a GEDCOM help page. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
3. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.
If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.
Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
