Birth Michael McCarthy was born in about 1851 in County Kerry, Ireland. He was son of John McCarthy and Honora (Tangney) McCarthy,
Baptism Michael McCarthy, of Clash, was baptised in the Catholic parish of Milltown, Kerry, Ireland, on 7 December 1851. The Baptism sponsors were Patrick Tangney and Mary Tangney. [1]
Immigration Michael immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1866 on the ship White Star, with his parents John McCarthy and Honora (Tangney) McCarthy and sister-in-law Ellen (O'Sullivan) McCarthy. [2]
Michael was still living at the time of his mother Honora's death on 4 November 1873. He was listed on her death certificate as aged 21 years. [3]
After his parents death Michael gradually lost touch with his two married brothers and the family thinks that he was the Michael McCarthy who drowned in the Ovens River at Wangaratta, Victoria, on 17th March 1880.[4]
