Biography
Mary Ellen McCarthy was born in 1870 in Port Richmond or Cariboo Cove, Richmond County, Nova Scotia. She is the daughter of Patrick McCarthy and Mary Jane Upton. Sometime between 1901 and 1906 she married James Childs as evidence by the birth registration of her daughter, Sarah Jane. The 1921 Census shows her as a resident in the Inverness Asylum. I have not been able to find any record of her death.
