Biography

Mary Eugenia McCarthy was born on 8 June 1882 in Central City, Gilpin county in Colorado. She was the daughter of Owen McCarthy of Ireland and Sarah McConnelogue of Wisconsin.^[1] She had a brother, John Laurence (1885-1962). Her mother, Sarah, married Frank Engle in 1894 in Central City and it is suspected that her father, Owen, died before that.^[2]

She married Edmond Henry Hansen on 24 June 1903 in Central City.^[3][4] They had three children, all born in Central City:

1. John Eugene (1908-1996)^[5]
2. Eula (1911-1999)
3. Bernard Edmond (1913-1919)

Her mother, Sarah, died on 9 April 1915 in Mary's home in Central City.

Sometime between 1913 and 1919, probably after her mother died in 1915, they moved from Colorado to Idaho.
Mary died on 16 April 1919 in Pocatello of Bannock county in Idaho^[6] and was buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.^[7][8]
