If it helps, my Florence's obituary says he started apprenticing on a sailing vessel between the age of 10-13, so he had to have lived somewhere very close to the water. And, his children's names were Eugene, Margaret, Mary, Florence, John, Catharine, Julia, Patrick and Frank.
Also, I'm guessing Eugene is a variation of Owen, since his first-born was named Eugene (also my middle name). Florence's death certificate says his parents were Eugene McCarthy and Margaret Driscoll, but I've had zero luck finding a Florence born to a Eugene and a Margaret Driscoll.
It looks, from the 1860 Census in Boston, that his brother and sister were living with him: John and Julia, 4 and 6 years younger respectively.
Thank you, Frances. :)

See, https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/4434270148620 I believe this may be the same Florence who emigrated to Boston about 1849; that Florence is my great-great-grandfather.
