Biography

Notables Project
Paul McCartney CH MBE is Notable.

On 18 June 1942, James Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England to James "Jim" McCartney and Mary Mohin. [1] Jim missed the birth due to his work as a volunteer firefighter during World War II. James and Mary had one more son, born 1944.

Paul McCartney, 1964

Paul McCartney is a singer, songwriter, composer and player of multiple instruments. Along with George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon, he gained worldwide fame as a member of the band, the Beatles. He also received an MBE. [2] His song-writing partnership with John Lennon is legendary.

Paul is also considered one of the most successful composers and performers of all time. He has 60 gold discs, sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist. Over 2,200 artists have covered his song "Yesterday". That's more than any other copyrighted song in history. In 1997, Paul McCartney was knighted for his services to music. [3]

In his personal life, Paul has married three times and has five children. He's been dedicated to projects that help support international charities focusing on animal rights, vegetarianism, poverty and music education.

In 2020, Sir Paul was reported to be one of the wealthiest musicians in the world (£800 million).

Hello - Can someone please edit "On This Day In History" category on this page to reflect June 18 instead of 19, thanks.

I agree. The project manager of a notable person (Sir Paul McCartney) who has a Wikipedia page and is married to a very famous person (who also has articles in many Encyclopedias, is wrong to restrict reasonable content.

Linda Louise McCartney, (née Eastman; September 24, 1941 – April 17, 1998) was an American photographer, musician, animal rights activist, vegetarian cookbook author and advocate, and entrepreneur. She was the keyboardist in the band Wings, which also featured her husband, Paul McCartney, a former member of the Beatles. A Google search on Linda will give you about 5,700,000 results (0.53 seconds) A Google search on Paul will give you about 71,200,000 results (0.55 seconds) Attempts to restrict accurate information, in this case, are not justified.

Sorry, this is the way the system is set up: if one spouse in a marriage is still living, then the deceased spouse will not appear as a partner on the still-living spouse's profile. The profile manager has nothing to do with it. There is nothing I can do about it. This does not just apply to Notables.

Linda already has her own profile at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Eastman-734 it is just not connected to Sir Paul.

Lady Linda Eastman McCartney is dead. Why is there no profile for her attached to this one? Also, daughters Heather, Mary, and Stella are missing. They are all notable in their chosen professions. Stella's name is sewn into people's clothing. Where are those profiles?

Also, if John Lennon and George Harrison are categorized as a rock musicians, why aren't Paul and Ringo? That makes no sense. Please add Sir Paul to rock musicians.

The coding for Living Notables does not allow for spouses to be shown, even if that spouse is dead. If one of the couple is alive, then their spouse does not show. Linda already has a profile here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Eastman-734 - she will not show as Paul's spouse until he is deceased also.

Heather, Mary, and Stella do not show because they are Living Notables in their own right. They need to be created and managed by a Project before the coding can show them.

I have done extensive research on Paul McCartney's family, as well as other Beatles. Many facts even used by Beatles biographer Mark Lewishon.

Here is my ancestry tree for him: if it is private, email me and I will make sure it is open to wikitree people to gather information.

One bit of information: his name may have been McCARTHY (or was a spelling error) as his James McCartney who married Elizabeth Williams had a father James McCartney an upholsterer. I found that a James McCARTHY Irish born upholsterer, married Rosanna Hughes on 14 Jul 1844 in Liverpool. His son was baptised as Name Jacobus McCartney Age 0 Birth Date 8 Feb 1845 Baptism Date 16 Feb 1845 Baptism Place St Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England Father Jacobus Mccartney Mother Rosa Hughs

And the name became consistently McCARTNEY

Hello Profile Managers!

We are featuring this profile in the Connection Finder this week. Between now and Wednesday is a good time to take a look at the sources and biography to see if there are updates and improvements that need made, especially those that will bring it up to WikiTree Style Guide standards. We know it's short notice, so don't fret too much. Just do what you can.

Thanks!

Where it says: "His song-writing partnership was John Lennon is legendary. " should read, ** His song-writing partnership with John Lennon, is legendary. ** Simply switch 'was' to 'with'.......... I recommend this correction. Thank you!

Bio edit suggestion: married 3 times, 5 children. Legally adopted first wife's daughter and had 2 daughters and one son with her, then one daughter with second wife.
