Biography

Michael McCartney is mentioned in the will of his father in law Elias Alexander Aduddell.

Elias Aduddell was born about 1740 and died before 1815. He wrote his will in 1813.

He married Sarah Hall in Philadelphia, PA, on 18 Mar 1771, listed in the marriage records of St. Michael's and Zion Church.

A few years later, they moved to Frederick County, VA. They lived in Virginia for about 20 years, then moved to the Belmont and Guernsey County, Ohio area. He bought land in the Oxford and Londonderry townships. One acre of land on his farm was designated a cemetery.

Michael was born about 1775. Michael McCartney married Nancy Ann Adduddell on Dec 22 1804 in VA. He had one daughter, Caroline.
