John McCaslin Alexander was the son of Alexander McCaslin and Elizabeth Sellers McCaslin. Born in Scott County Indiana, He moved to Johnson County Indiana with his family in 1829. He was the eldest of a family of six. He was a farmer and raised short horn cattle and fancy stock. The McCaslins lived next door to the Alexanders.
