Samuel G McClanahan was born on September 19, 1801 in Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina, United States, son of John McClanahan (1774–1822) and Jeanette J McClurkin (1780–1827).[1]

In 1870, Saml (68) Mcclanahan was living in Tennessee. [5]
Samuel died on July 14, 1873, in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee, aged 71. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee.[1]
