In 1818 Abraham McCleary willed property, including the ferry landing on the south side of the river to his daughter Martha, wife of Stephen Underdown who then acquired the ferry landing on the north side of the river from his wife’s sister. Stephen Underdown operated the ferry and a store near the ferry landing. [1] This river was the French Broad River in Sevier County, TN
Research Notes
Pedigree Resource File has Martha McCleary Underdown the daughter of Joseph Payne McCleary rather than daughter of his brother Abraham McCleary. According to this source, Joseph Payne McCleary married Rachel Smith, daughter of Abraham Smith and Martha Payne. It is likely that his name was Josiah, not Joseph, after Martha Payne's father Josiah Payne.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:
