Henry was born in the village of Alton, the second child of John Unger McClellan John McClellan and his second wife Eleanor Anne McKee. Eleanor McKee
In 1871 he was 11 years old, living with his parents and 8 siblings.
The family lived across the road from the Alton Cemetery and close to other McClellan families and the Dods family.
He married Sarah Jane Murch on 16 February 1883 in Mitchell, Perth, Ontario,
The 1891 census describes him as a tinsmith, he has one child Chester. There is a wonderful picture of his family taken in the house.
By 1901 he is described as a miller, his second son Roy is now 8 years old. His brother Jonathan born 1876 is living with the family, he is also described as a miller.
Many online trees list a daughter Elizabeth born in 1887, however no records have been found to prove her existence.
In 1911 he is described as a merchant, he is still living in the same house, with his wife Sarah and his son Roy.
In 1921 he is living with or visiting his son Roy and his family in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He died in Alton and is buried in Alton Cemetery.
