Served in the Seminole Indian Wars/Florida in June1837 under the commandCapt McRae's Company, 2nd Regt, East Florida Mounted Volunteers at Mineral Springs, FL. and discharged at Ft Filliand, FL on 10 Dec 1837. According to his widow's pension application [dated March and again in November of 1893] he reenlisted again in June/July 1838 under command of D.P.F. Newson's Company for about 4 months in the same war. She stated at the time he served he was a clerk at the time of the first enlistment and as a farmer at the time of the second enlistment. Two land warrants were rec'd [to the best of her knowledge], one in 1854 and another towards the end of 1855,,,the last came after his death and his administrator, H.Y. McClellan disposed of it. The numbers on each warrant were not remembered by her, but they/he was living at Waukeenah, Jefferson County, FL at the time. She stated she was married to Charles D. McClellan in Jefferson County, FL by Justice of the Peace, William Gorman on the 30th of August 1838, though after a diligent search, no record was found in the courthouse . As they were married to a long deceased Justice of the Peace, he left no record of marriages he performed and no church record was needed.
