Mary was the daughter of John McClellan and Mary McKenzie
If this Gedcom record is correct; Mary died at about 18 months and would most likely have been buried at the Alton Cemetery. She is not listed on the family headstone.
She was born and died before the 1851 census therefore no official record of her exists.
No birth or death record has been found, these dates are from the McClellan family bible.
No records have been found for this person, no birth record, no death record, she is not on the family headstone at Alton Cemetery. The only sources found are One World Tree and Geneologies submitted to Family Search. Her name is not on the Alton Cemetery records.
This lack of evidence does not mean she did not exist, she could have been buried on the family farm .
The Alton Cemetery has been in use since 1832 when it was created on land donated by Jas. McClellan
Conversation with the Alton Cemetery steward provides this information: there were no records made of the names, birth dates or death dates for burials of people buried in this cemetery before 1927.
The steward also confirmed that on some occasions, additional corpses often but not always children were included in a grave for someone else if a grave had already been dug for the other person.
The ground where the cemetery is located is rock covered by a thin layer of soil, this made digging graves a difficult task.
