"The carpenter work was probably done by Samuel McClellan, the ancestor of the present family of that name in this congregation, who had removed into this township from Newtown township, Delaware County, about the year 1763, and settled where his grandson James l. McClellan now resides. It is certain that he built the pews. He would make as many at a time as his shop would conveniently hold, and then haul them to the church and put them up. On one occasion, while he was thus engaged, his shop took fire and was burned, and with it about L60 worth of work, besides the materials."

McClellan-3048 and McClellan-377 appear to represent the same person because: Hi Lamar,

I believe this is the same person. There are only a couple discrepancies. I'm also trying to verify that Samuel's father is Robert William McClelland, my 6th great grandfather. Thanks, Rob
