Dr. A.S. McClure is the son of Henry McClure and Laurinda Bidwell of Broome County, NY. He married Melinda Coleman from Middletown, Susquehanna, PA and moved to Indiana County, PA. They had six children: Emily, Thomas, Mary, Florence, Sarah Ellen, and Catherine Jane "Jennie". He married Ann Furguson Clark and had two children: Sallie and William. Dr. McClure was a physician in Diamondville,PA,, Duncannon,PA and Harrisburg.
