Biography

Margaret is the eldest daughter of Samuel and Nancy (Levisay) McClure. Her parents settled in Bloomfield Township, Jackson County, Ohio in 1811. She married Charles Slavens on 29 Aug 1821 and settled in Pike County, Ohio. Among their children are:

  • Reuben
  • Samuel, one of 7 Andrews Raiders who were hanged by Confederates on 20 Jun 1862
  • Arthur, m. Jane Stephenson, sister of Samuel Stephenson
  • Jacob
  • Nancy, m. Hugh Gilliland
  • Martha, m. Samuel Stephenson
