I accepted the project tag JEWISH some time ago, but I receive no activity from it. I've taken a DNA test at ftdna, so I know that my Unknown (unnamed) gf was Jewish in either Frankfurt or Karlsruhe DE in 1906. He was Ashkenazi, and somehow related to a Berman family, three members of which were living in 2015; the two eldest have now died. All the secrecy makes my search more difficult.

Hi Chris - My cousin Bob Ross (now deceased) and I have worked on our family's genealogy since the early 80's. I've noticed that you have the tag, Jewish, on your page and if there is a group I would very much like to join as both my parents and my sister and are/were Jewish and active members of our communities.

Chris, I read here today that there IS now a JEWISH project, and I see you have a Jewish tag in your list. I want to join that group. How do I do that? (I've joined projects but now I have forgotten how to do that easy process.)

I don't expect the work for that tag to be easy, and I expect to ask more questions than answer them. I am 31% Ashkenazi (primarily from Lithuania/Old Poland) and through's auDNA test I've learned about this heritage. My father's father is unknown (not in the records). I am genetically related to some contemporary Berman families.

Thanks a ton Chris! This information will be a great asset for me to move forward. Twinville Cemetary is the location of her burial and the other information about spouses and children is correct so that is verification.
