George was born in Towie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1890. He was the son of Robert McConnachie and Mary Hay.

Previously a labourer, George signed up to the Australian Imperial Force (15th Battalion) on the 19th October 1914.[1]

Wounded in Action Gallipoli Peninsula: GSW left thigh 08 August 1915, 1st AGH 8 August 1915, Hosp ship transferred to Alexandria 13 August 1915, No 2 Aux Con Hos Heliopolis 14 August 1915, BW left thigh, to Helouan 09 September 1915, to Zeitoun fit for service 25 September 1915,

British War Medal

Embarked for Gallipoli 04 November 1916, rejoined Battalion Gallipoli Peninsula 13 November 1915, admitted No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital Ismailia 15 January 1916, sick, Dangerously ill at No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital Ismailia, DIED OF MENINGITIS at 7am on the 16 January 1916, died of illness 16 January 1916,[2] buried Ismailia Cemetery 17 January 1916.

Corporal George McConnachie passed away on the 16th Jan 1916, in Egypt, having been diagnosed only a day or so earlier with meningitis.

Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt: memorial reference: A. 101[4]

Post-war registration of death (military to civilian registry) was made along with however many were filed at the same time in 1922.[5]
