James Archibald McConnell was born about 1744 in Rowan, Province of North Carolina, son of William McConnell (~1720–1772) and Elizabeth Tate (~1722–1750).
His known son was James Allison McConnell (~1757–>1840).
James died about 1799 in Green Creek, Bourbon, Kentucky, United States, aged about 54.
