Biography

Richard Miles McCool was born on 3 Jul 1885[1] in McCool, Attala Co, MS.[2] He was the son of George Washington McCool (1858-1934) and Georgia Anne (Ray) McCool (1858-1936).

1900 US Census:[3] Richard M McCool was listed as 15yo and born Jul 1885 in MS. He was living in Center, Attala Co, MS with his parents and ten siblings.

Richard received a degree in agriculture from Mississippi A&M College.[4]

No 1910 US Census has been found.

Richard married Betty Fulton (1889-1991) on 31 Dec 1913 in Shelby Co, TN.[5] They would have four children:

1920 US Census:[6] Richard McCool was described as 34yo and born in MS. He was living in Johnston Co, Oklahoma with his wife, Bettie Fulton McCool (30; MS) and their children Elizabeth M (5; OK) and Anna M (3; OK).

1930 US Census:[7] Richard M McCool was listed as 44yo and born in MS. He was living in Tishomingo, Johnston Co, OK with his wife Bettie (40; MS) and their children Anne (15; OK), Elizabeth (13; OK), and Frances (4; OK).

1940 US Census:[8] Richard M McCool was shown as 54yo and born in MS. He was living in Norman, Cleveland Co, OK with his wife Betty (50; MS) and their children Richard (18; OK) and Frances (14; OK).

Richard was a city manager of Norman, OK and president of Murray A&M University in Tishomingo, OK (now Murray State College).[4]

Richard Miles McCool Sr passed away at age 70 on 7 Mar 1956 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He's buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, Adams Co, PA.[9]
