Biography

Ninian A. McCord was born about 1832 in Illinois.^[1]His Find A Grave records birth on 8 Feb 1831^[2]

Based on the age of his oldest know child and the fact that he was shown living with a brother and without a wife in 1860, Ninian and Susan were probably married about 1862. They had at least the following children:

• Oren L McCord, b. ca. 1863; d. 15 Feb 1935 Hopkinsville, Christian, Kentucky^[3]
• Wilmott McCord, b. ca. 1865
• Warren McCord, b. ca. 1868
• Charles Cornelius McCord, b. 5 April 1871
• Franklin McCord, b. ca. 1878

When he registered for the Civil War draft in Putnam County, Illinois, in June 1863, Ninian, was a 31 year old married farmer^[4] In 1870, Ninian, still a farmer, lived in Granville, Putnam, Illinois, with his wife Susan and three children.^[5]

In 1880, N. A. Mc Cord still a farmer, lived in Fountain Creek Township, Iroquois, Illinois, with his wife Susan and 5 children.^[1]

Ninian Alfonso McCord died on 12 May 1888 and is buried at the East Lynn Cemetery East Lynn, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was 57 years, 3 months and 4 days old at death.^[6]
