Biography

Joseph Thomas McCormick was the son of Joe McCormick and Mary King. He was born at exactly midnight between June 1 and June 2, 1930. He was Christened on 15 Jun 1930 at St Michael's in Brooklyn, New York . William Kenny and Geraldine King, his uncle and aunt were his sponsors.[1]He was raised in Brooklyn, New York with his two older sisters, Eleanor and Florence.[2] His sister Eleanor died when Joe was seven;[3] he and Flo remained very close throughout their lives. Joe served in the Korean War as a cryptologist in the US Army from September 1951 through August 1953.[4] He married Rosemary McManus on 24 December 1951, and they had six children. Joe was a stereotyper for the New York Daily News for 37 years. He died on 10 Nov 2014 in Portsmouth, Virginia.[5]
