It has been suggested that William McCormick was born and married in Ireland but there is no Irish marriage record showing both spouses' names. McCormick was an established surname in Wigtownshire (& Scotland) prior to 1800 with 39 recorded births between 1700 & 1800 (150 recorded births in Scotland). There are 745 surviving records of George births in Scotland between 1700-1800, 4 of which were in Wigtownshire. It is reasonable to assume that both William and Anne were born and married in Scotland.
