Hughie Maurice "Mac" McCormick, age 84 of Winchester, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. He was born in Olney, Illinois and was the owner/operator of Mac's Slaughter House. Mr. McCormick was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during World War II and was the recipient of a Purple Heart Medal. He is survived by his wife, Ruby McCormick of Winchester; a son, Larry (Janice) McCormick of Winchester; a daughter, Lyn (Dean) Jackson of Winchester; a brother, Dale McCormick of Illinois; three sisters, Ruby Smith and Mary Ella Wagner, both of Michigan, and Marsha McCormick of Illinois; a grandson, Christopher Brian McCormick of Winchester; a granddaughter, Allison (Jeff) Morris of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jessie Akers officiating. Interment was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester.
