Copy of short bio by Edwin Douglass: It all started back in 1895 August 1st to be exact, in St Louis Missouri, where I was born. That was the year electric street cars appeared on the streets of St. Louis and the union station was dedicated. My father was a railroad man and mother often told about she and Dad taking me down to the station dedication. My mother was born in Owen Sound Ontario, one of a family of 6 daughters and 3 sons. Owen Sound is a beautiful small town on Georgian Bay. Her parents were born in Perth, Scotland and came to Canada after their marriage at 21. Grandfather Douglass was a successful and prosperous tailor and had the leading mens store on the main street a few doors down from their home. My father was from Illinois, he had 2 sisters. Grandma had been married before to a Tierman who was one of the early day contractor and railroad builders. He ---- in New York floating a loan to continue the railroad he was building from Kansas to Arkansas at the time of his death. Grandma McCoy was born in Kentucky. She often told about Abe Lincoln staying at her mothers hotel on his trips to the little town and how she helped wait on him when he partook of his meals. When Lincoln and his clan left Kentucky Grandma's people joined others and all went to Indiana and later all moved to Illinois. My father went to the University of Illinois for a little over a year and later married his fist wife to which two children were born, a girl and a boy. this wife died and later he married my mother whom he had met in Canada. Clemons Francis, the boy, lived with them for awhile and later went to live with his Grandmother. When Clem was a little over 14 he ran away and formed a Regular Army Artillery unit.
