Anna was born in 1884 on what was then called the Pressley Farm, near Bladen, Webster County, Nebraska. In 1888, Anna and her younger sister, Almira Grace, were orphaned when their parents died within days of each other. Our oral family history tells that John and Cenith McCoy died of pneumonia during a flu epidemic.

Anna was taken in by Mr. and Mrs. Chris Borgaard. Our family does not believe Anna was legally adopted, although she did adopt the last name "Borgaard."

She married Andrew Rasmus Rasmussen Feb. 21, 1907.
