Lawrence McCoy was born about 1917 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, son of Henry Daniel McCoy (1892 - 1951) and Alphonsine (Leclair) McCoy (1888 - 1978).

Lawrence married Eva Dena Pulkrabek at the Sacred Heart church about 15 Apr 1941.
Easter lilies formed the setting for the quiet wedding Wednesday at the Sacred Heart church of Eva Dena, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L B. Pulkrabek. and Mr. Lawrence Joseph McCoy, son of Mr. and Mr. H. McCoy. The ceremony was performed by Monsignor O Gorman. Given away by Mr. A. E. Mac-Donald. the bride wore an afternoon frock of beige and dusky rose wool crepe, made in redingote style. With it she wore a wide-brimmed rose felt hat to tone, and corsage of talisman roses. Miss Kay Pocock. the bridesmaid, was In powder blue crepe, chirred at the waist and yoke. Her hat was blue felt and her flowers pink roses. The best man was Mr. Edward McCoy, and the usher Mr. William McCoy, both brothers of the bride- groom. j A reception to 30 guests was held In the private dining room of the Royal George Hotel The brides table was centered with a three-tier wedding cake, pink tulips and white tapers. Mrs. McCoy, the bridegroom's mother, received with the bridal couple. She wore a gown of queen's blue crepe with a front panel of navy blue, a navy blue hat and sweetheart roses. Lawrence died on 8 Jul 2013 in St. Albert, Alberta aged ~96.
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Lawrence McCoy on July 8, 2013 at the age of 95.
The son of a blacksmith, Lawrence was one of the founders of McCoy Brothers. He married Eva (Brownie) in 1941 and over the next 17 years they had seven children – Elaine (Jim) Gill, Ken (Shari), Karen (Joe) Petrone, Jim (Patti), Marlene (Allan) Smulski, Ron (Lori), and Bob (Carmen). He was predeceased by his wife in 2000, and is survived by one brother Edward “Dinty” McCoy.
Lawrence loved dancing, hunting, playing bridge, skiing, building things, and traveling. The family cottage at Seba Beach became a special place where he could play with and watch his family grow. That family grew to include 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. His passing was a testimony to his strength of character and constitution and allowed each one of us a chance to say our good-byes surrounded by love.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of station 18 at Sturgeon Hospital for their sensitive care in Lawrence’s final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 75 Poirier Avenue, St. Albert at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 with a reception to follow. There will be a private interment at a later date.
