I don't know much about my family tree yet.
I am researching the McCracken family primarily to recognize a McCracken son who was killed in the Filipino Insurrection (at end of Spanish American War in Manilla). He lies in an unmarked grave next to his 17 yr old sister (in California).
This hero, whose name has been recorded as James O McCracken / Horace James McCracken / Orris James McCracken is a son of Rachel Jane Hulse McCracken. For a period of time in the late 1890 time frame Rachel and 3 of her children lived in California.
After the 17 year old daughter, Laura, died about 1895, and Orris killed in 1899, Rachel moved back to their origins in Sullivan county Tennessee.
It is believed Rachel's husband was James. Thanks for any help.
